A Delightful Range of Ethically Sourced Tea for Serious Tea Drinkers
As a British person from a Tea loving nation, it is probably too obvious to admit that I am a massive tea lover. However, until last week my tea expertise was limited to English Breakfast Tea with milk and two sugars and the occasional peppermint tea if I was feeling a bit fancy - or bloated.
When Adagio Tea reached out to me, I was really excited to try tea in a completely new way to what I had ever experienced before. I have always loved the idea of trying loose teas but I've never really had the knowledge to know what is what or which flavours I would enjoy. I wasn't even fully aware of the health benefits of tea - for which there are lots! So I gladly accepted the opportunity to collaborate with this company and share with you my new found love for Tea (which I now refer to as 'proper tea' in my house). Read to the end to find out how you can get your hands on an Adagio Tea starter set in my giveaway!
Why I Will Never Drink From A Tea Bag Again
What a massively bold statement to make after 29 delightful years of drinking good old Yorkshire tea out of a bleached tea bag. That's right I said it, B.L.E.A.C.H. The tea bags that we see as convenient and easy are actually not all that good for you. The tea inside the teabags is also known as 'fanning' or 'dust'. Just hearing your beloved tea being called dust is enough to put anyone off, especially me. Bork.
So what makes loose leaf tea better?
Tea always has been consumed in leaf form, right from the beginning of tea time. The introduction of the tea bag wasn't until 1904 and trust me, people were drinking tea a long time before then. Putting a tea in a tea bag - which isn't very big in size - calls for reductions and compromises in other areas. The main one is replacing full flavoursome tea leaves with ground down and dust-like remains of tea. This produces nothing more than a brownish liquid which lacks in flavour and makes the 'cuppa tea' we know today. Adagio Tea have joined the wave of tea enthusiasts to bring tea back to life by producing loose leaf tea in large tea bags or filters, thus compromising on the idea of a tea bag, but using the traditional blends of natural ingredients to produce full-bodied and aromatic tea. You can read more about this on the Learn Page on Adagio Tea
Types of Tea
Little did I know how many different types of tea there are. After trying a selection of teas from Adagio Tea, I like to now think I am becoming quite the connoisseur. OOO-errr.
I was very kindly gifted a wide variety of teas including Green Tea, Herbal Iced Tea, Chai Tea and so much more! The website is very clear and gives you all the information you need in order to choose a tea that you'll not only love the taste of, but can satisfy your health needs too. Did you know that there has been research to suggest that drinking Green Tea reduces the risks of cancer such as stomach, colon and throat cancers in women? Check out the Adagio Tea website for loads more tea research articles.
My favourite tea has to be the White Strawberry Tea from the new summer range. The tea can be drank hot or iced - I prefer it warm as it seems to bring out the flavours just a tad more. The white tea from China is as fresh as a bright summer’s day, and is blended with the delight of strawberries and with a hint of vanilla to compliment the light and natural sweetness. This blend is a perfect refreshment for an afternoon lazing in the sunshine. When served iced it gives me strawberry milkshake vibes but - feels so much more refined!
