What To Expect From a Sandals Holiday
For those of you who have no idea what a Sandals holiday is, in a nutshell it is a chain of hotels in numerous Caribbean islands that boast high end luxury and ultra-all inclusive offerings. Designed exclusively for couples, Sandals have 15 resorts over 6 Caribbean islands in some of the most exclusive locations such as Bahamas and Grenada.
This post is here to give you all the info you need for exactly what to expect as a blanket offering at a Sandals resort. Obviously each resort varies slightly depending on which one you go to, but Sandals has a minimum standard and consistency between hotels and this post will give you all you need to know about the Sandals brand.
Premium All-Inclusive - Food and Drink
Sandals boasts being the only 5* Adult only luxury included resort in the world. This is debatable, but, Sandals do provide many services that are included in your original holiday cost so, technically, you could holiday at Sandals without taking a single penny with you. In theory.
The inclusions in a Sandals holiday start with the food and drink. They have 5* dining facilities and plenty of dining options, which caters for even the fussiest of eaters. Room service is also included which is a nice touch, as most other all inclusive hotels do add a surcharge on for room delivery.
The restaurants on offer vary slightly from resort to resort, but there are a few restaurants that you will recognise between each resort such as Kelly's Dockside and Kimono's Tepenyaki. This gives a sense of familiarity amongst the food scene of Sandals, but each resort does have their own take on eateries, such as the Jerk Shack in Ochi Beach Resort, Jamaica.
There is 24 hour dining options at all Sandals Resorts.
As well as the food options being top notch, all drinks served at Sandals resorts are premium drinks and liquors. You can expect to find top notch Whiskeys, Absolute Vodka and a wide choice of branded beers. All soft drinks are also branded.
There are so many things you can expect to have included on the price of your Sandals holiday. Below is a list of all the inclusions you can expect as standard when you arrive at a Sandals resort:
What's Not Included?
So, even though Sandals proclaims to be "the only 5* luxury included" resort, there are some things that you can definitely expect to not be included. Pack a few dollars because the things that are not included are going to set you back a fair whack (which is where Sandals obviously make some of their money). Things you can expect to pay for as extras are:
Which Caribbean Islands Have Sandals Resorts?
There are 15 Sandals resorts and many more Beaches resorts (sister hotels, family friendly) all over the Caribbean. Below are the Islands where you can find a Sandals Resort:
Should I Stay at a Sandals Resort?
After my first visit to Sandals (Ochi Beach Resort, Jamaica) I would say that if you are looking for a holiday with everything at your finger tips, luxury accommodation and unmatched service then a Sandals holiday is probably a good bet.
However, Sandals holidays are on the pricey side. If you are one of my OG readers then you will know that I love a luxury holiday but I also love a bargain. I do feel that what we paid for Butler Level at Ochi Beach was a nice, affordable luxury jolly, but most of the other resorts are at least £1000 per person more expensive. Ochi Beach is the most affordable resort but this does come with some downsides. I will elaborate more on this in my Ochi Beach Hotel Review.
Overall, I would recommend a Sandals resort to anyone, but as always, use this guide as part of your own wider research before booking a Sandals holiday.
