HAVING A REGULAR NIGHTIME ROUTINE IS SO IMPORTANT
So you've just had a long day at work, it was stressful. You get home, you make tea, for yourself, possibly for the partner and kids too. The house is a mess even though you only cleaned yesterday. Infact you gave the house a real thorough clean. Now you wonder why you bothered. The kids need bathing, the dog needs walking, the packed lunches need doing for tomorrow. You put the kids to bed and suddenly you have an hour or so before its your bed time, what do you do now?
Most people lead hectic lives these days. Heck - I cant remeber the last time I truly spent the day doing bugger all. I think its important, even in our busy lives to spend time on yourself. My way of doing this is to make sure I have a regular night time routine where I forget about the day and spend time with ME.
In this post I am going to share with you my regular night time routine. How I was the woes of the day away and prepare for a new day.
I start by taking up all my makeup. I use Loreal 's micellar water which is a popular one, and its great. I really rate Loreal products, and no this is not an #ad (I wish it was!) I run myself a deep, hot bath, turn the lights off and light a scented candle. Might even pour myself a little Prosecco, depends on how the day has been. If I'm feeling really fancy, I'll stick an audiobook on my tablet and listen to that too. I always use a bath bomb. My favourite one at the moment is Twighlight by Lush.
I'll do the usual, shave my legs, have a wash etc. Then I will put on a facemask - my favourties are the Loreal's Pure Clay Masks. They are by far the best ones I've used so far. I'll also use a hair mask if I am washing my hair and the one I'm using at the moment is by Mayi Moisture and it's Vegan! Yay for Vegan products.
BEFORE GETTING INTO BED
I get out the bath, dry myself and my hair and then the next stage of my night time routine begins.
Moisturising my face twice a day is a must. If theres any steps of this routine that I miss, this is not one of them. For bed I use Lush's Sleepy Body Lotion. I cannot rate this stuff enough! If you have a rough time sleeping, try this. I don't know how it does it but it sends you into a gorgeous sound sleep. I love it! The best bit - it's Vegan! I use this all over my body including my face. I then use Lancome's eye gel under my eyes. This stuff is cooling and personally I think it has helped with any premature ageing around my eyes.
If I am fake tanning (every other day usually) I will use Skinny Tan's gradual tanner. I apply this on top of my moisturisor for a more even application and no streaks. Skinny Tan is fab anyway as it is streak free, but I usually find a way to give myself streaks unintentionally. Oops! You can shop Skinny Tan below, it is on offer fo today too! Bonus! (RRP £19.99)
Once all the lotions and potions are applied, I make sure I am dry ( no one likes fake tan on the sheets - especially my Hubs!) and listen to ten minutes of guided meditation. Once I have completed this - it really does chill you out, try it - I spray my pillow with a sleep mist, usually lavender, and then start my audiobook. You can get your Free 30-day Trial with Audible below. I then usually drift off into a lovely sleep and I'm ready to go again from 6:30am the next morning. Oh life.
