Hilton Hotel, Malta
The Hilton Hotel in St Julian's Bay, is one of the most exclusive hotels on the beautiful island of Malta and it is no surprise to see why.
Having stayed in various Hilton hotels all over the UK and in other parts of the world, my expectations of Hilton Malta were high. Located in the heart of St Julian's overlooking the stunning Portomaso Marina, this hotel really does have it all. From a stunning spa, to a killer breakfast buffet and tastefully decorated rooms, this hotel review is one of the easiest I will ever write. If you're not already convinced by my small introduction, read more to find out why you should consider booking in to stay here when visiting Malta.

I stayed in an executive suite on floor 6. The room is exceptionally large, with plenty of room for a super king-size bed, a full sized elegant sofa and coffee table, a table with two chairs, a large flat screen TV and unit, plus full built in wardrobes and vanity area. The bathroom houses a large bath tub with shower, a large sink area and mirror, and a toilet (of course!). The rooms are very tastefully decorated, with the main colour being a clean off-white, with splashes of turquoise as a feature. The room was absolutely spotless and cleaned thoroughly every day. My only criticism is that the mini bar is charged extra, but tea, coffee and fresh water are available daily.
The best part of the room was the balcony. Not only do you get an incredible view of the Marina, the hotel's swimming pools and the sea, but the size of the balcony itself is huge! It's like having your own outdoor dance floor, which of course, I loved. The balcony is a great place to unwind after a full day of exploring the island, even in the mild December weather.
Overall I would rate the room, a very well deserved, 5/5.
The Hotel Facilities
The Hilton Malta is one of the larger Hilton Hotels I have stayed in, but also the most grand. The hotel has a whole host of facilities to support this too.
For those looking for a stay here from April on wards, there are three generously sized swimming pools to choose from, one of them being adults only. There is a pool bar serving snacks and drinks, and plenty of sunbeds to choose from - you won't need to get your towels down too early to get a good spot.
There are three places you can get food in the hotel - the Oceana restaurant, Vista Lobby Lounge bar and the Blue Elephant (Thai food - highly recommended!). There is also the Quarterdeck bar too, ideal for a special occasion with a huge balcony overlooking the Marina. Just outside of the entrance to the Hilton and to the left is the Portomaso Marina, which is home to many more restaurants and upmarket bars which are a 2 minute stroll from the hotel. There is also a casino next door - expect to see many high end vehicles outside!
For those on a business trip, there are plenty of services available to you. Free WiFi is available in all public areas plus a business centre and office room rental too.
For families with children, there is a babysitting service, children's menu in all restaurants, a games room and a playground to keep the kids occupied!
The list of amenities is endless, but a few of interest are:
1) Hair salon on site
2) Gift Shop
3) Room Service
5) Tennis Courts
7) Excursion Desk
Plus a whole heap more!
Overall I would rate the hotel facilities a strong 5/5.
The Hilton Hotel Malta is strategically located in St Julian's Bay, a stones throw away from Silema, and only 15 minute taxi ride to Valletta, the Capital City (and well worth a visit!). The views from the balcony of your room either have a view of the lush gardens, a pool view, a marina view or a sea view. The room I stayed in (room 601) had a pool view, with sea view in the background and a partial marina view, so the best of all of the views!
The hotel is a short walk (approximately 2 minutes) into the main street of St Julian's where you can jump on the HOHO (hop on, hop off) bus to really take in all of the sights of Malta. A taxi transfer from the airport to the hotel is around 20 minutes and costs 20EUR. You can catch a ferry ride from Silema to Malta's sister island of Gozo, in under 20 minutes.
Straight outstide of the hotel entrance and to the right hand side, past the casino, is a gorgeous cafe and resturant serving breakfast, lunch and tea. Portomaso cafe is well worth a visit if you need to curb your hunger!
A Few Last Thoughts And Advice
Firstly, my main nugget of advice is this - book the Hilton as your base for your next visit to Malta. That is, if your feeling like splurging. Being known as one of the most exclusive hotels on the island, if not THE most exclusive hotel in Malta, comes with a price tag. A hefty one at that. All that being said, if you are lucky enough to be part of the Hilton Honours members, you can grab yourself cheeky deals and extras if you book using your membership. Otherwise, try travelling outside of the peak summer season to get the same stay for a fraction of the price!
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone, and I rate it a strong 5/5.
