Elemis Superfood Collection - Is It Worth It?
Seeing as we are all currently on lockdown and some of us are trying new things, I thought I would share with you my most recent skincare routine, mostly using Elemis products from their Superfood Range.
My mum bought me the Elemis Superfood Skincare essentials range as a little lockdown present in the first week of UK lockdown and now we are in week 4, I think I am now in a position to share my review of this gorgeous range as I have used it every night since.
I have used Elemis skincare products before but I am in no way an expert and completely new to the Superfood range, so, all my opinions in this post are based on my own experiences of using the range from home and I am in no way affiliated with Elemis on a professional level.
Superfood Facial Wash
The Superfood range is designed for all skin types and contains plant based, nutrient dense super-food ingredients which helps give a clear complexion with a radiant glow.
The facial wash (150ml) is the product I use first. I use a grape-sized amount and apply to damp skin with my hands in 4 areas - forehead, both cheeks and chin. I then use an electric exfoiliator brush and massage into my skin until it lathers up. The facial wash feels so lush on my face. It has a cooling sensation but doesn't freeze you up like some products do (I'm looking at you original source)!
The formula is a gel-like substance rather than a liquid, so once you apply it to your skin it stays in place, giving you plenty of time to work it into your face without it running into your eyes! I love it for this reason alone! Once rinsed, my skin feels lovely and clean, more so than when I use lower-end facial washes.
As Elemis is a high-end skincare line, you can expect to pay a higher price tag for these items but, believe me, it is totally worth it. The Superfood Facial Wash retails at £20.50 on the elemis website. You can access it here.
Superfood Facial Oil
I must admit, I didn't even know what a facial oil was before I used this range. I assumed that because it has the word 'oil' in it, that I should steer clear of using it as my skin is already prone to oily spells. However. This is not the case at all! I absolutely love love LOVE this product and I honestly believe that this is the reason my skin is on point at the moment!
After I have used the facial wash, I use 4 drops of this on the same four areas of my face as before, only use 1 drop for each area. I promise you, less is more with this product. Use your fingers to gently massage into your entire face and neck thoroughly. Enjoy the process! This application is like having a spa quality facial at home - it feels so gorgeous on the skin. I use this product at night, but you can use it in the morning too if you wish.
**TIP - when massaging your face with any cream or oil, always use your hands in an upward motion as pulling your skin downwards will increase sagging in your skin. No one wants a saggy face!
This item retails between £40-£45 for 15ml.
Superfood Day Cream
This is the product I use as my last step out of this range. After applying the facial oil, I use two pumps of the Superfood Day Cream and apply in the same upward motions all over my face and neck. I do use the day cream overnight, mainly because it is lovely and lightweight so I don't feel caked in moisturiser while I'm in bed (I hate that feeling).
What I love the most about the Superfood day cream is the formula. It is non-greasy, lightweight and glides over your skin so easily. My skin absorbs it pretty much as I'm applying it which I love - I hate having to wait for my moisturiser to not be white on my face!
The fragrance for the whole Superfood skincare range is really neutral. I can only describe it as fresh - unperfumed and a natural, earthly smell. It's lovely.
This product retails at £42.00 for 50ml.
Overall, I absolutely love this product range and would highly recommend it to anyone to try. I am aware that it is a luxury range and the price point is more high-end for the products. This being said, I whole-heartedly recommend you try this range, especially if you have mild-moderate skin issues, as in the last four weeks since using this range my skin is probably the best it's ever looked.
All the products above and in the order I have mentioned I only use at nighttime as part of my night routine. I will be posting a separate blog post on other skincare essentials I use and would recommend soon :)
